Riddles - prize for correct guesses

I will post three riddles at a time. Each one will be numbered 1-3.
When posting an answer make sure you post which one you are answering. either one, two, or three. If you do not, you won't get anything, even if you guess right, since i don't know which one you're guessing for.

For every correct guess, the member will recieve 25 marks.

DO NOT CHEAT. I have a sixth sense, and I will know!

NUMBER 1

What nine letter word in the English that is still a word when each of the nine letters is removed one by one?

NUMBER 2

An old farmer went on a trip with a fox, a goose and a sack of corn. He came upon a river which he had to cross and found a tiny boat to use to cross the stream. He could only take himself and one other - the fox, the goose, or the corn - at a time. He could not leave the fox alone with the goose or the goose alone with the corn.
How he can cross all of them safely?

answer; Take the Goose first, and then leave it on the other side. Taking the fox, put it on the otherside, taking the goose again and switching it with the grain, and putting the grain by the fox. Then, take the goose and put it on the otherside, finally. All three are there. :3

A man hijacks an airplane transporting both passengers and valuable cargo. After taking the cargo, the man demands two parachutes, puts one of them on, and jumps, leaving the other behind. Why did he want two?

Riddle 2 is really bugging me a lot because I remember having to solve it like in class a long time ago or something. I just can't remember the answer. MUST. RESIST. THE. URGE. TO. GOOGLE. IT!
Well, good luck to everyone trying to solve these. I'll just have to go over all the nine letter words I know and hope I find the answer to Riddle 1.

Hey there! Just joined the site, but thought I try out for Riddle Number 2. I did something like it in class.

Omg I remember doing the third riddle with a friend (and the second one in school) but I can't remember the answers T_T

Edit: I think I got it!

Riddle 3: There are 2 passengers ("both passengers and cargo") hence he is leaving one parachute for the other unlucky fellow on the plane! :3 I hope it's correct.
